The curse of busy-ness18/3/2021 Read the full article here...
I'm a busy-ness addict. I've achieved a lot in my career but the cost has been high. As a business leader being too busy had me focus on quick fixes to seemingly urgent problems instead of attending to the messy priorities requiring patience and thought. Busy-ness also cost my family life and well-being to the point where twice I left senior management roles. All my mentoring clients are affected by busy-ness. I'm changing the habits of a lifetime so what to do? It feels OK admitting to being helplessly busy. I try to ask myself, 'Is that really important?' And get colleagues to ask me, 'Do you really need to do that now?' But I don't have it handled at all. If you aren't too busy maybe this article I wrote for Sorted, a men’s publication, could be helpful.
