Welcome to the resource page for facilitators trained to offer The Listening Shed to their communities.

If you want to refresh or review any section of The Listening Shed, each module - Listening 1.0 to 5.0 - has its own video, shot either at the live training event or in a studio.

The most important modules are 'Telling your story’ (Listening 3.0 Part 1) and ’Checking-in’ (Listening 3.0 Part 2).

Some coaching videos are also included: 'Presenting tips' and ’Setting up for success’, summarising the brainstorming on challenges and strategies to introducing Checking-in to your community.

The PowerPoint slide deck with all modules is available to download through the link below.

The Listening Shed Facilitator Training Introduction

Welcome to The Listening Shed facilitator training

Listening 1.0 The importance of listening

Why is it so important for men to listen? It’s the best way to get men to talk.

Listening 2.0 - Being interested

Being interested is a prerequisite for being a good listener yet it’s not easy. Here's how to do it well!

Listening 3.0 Part 1 - Telling Your Story

Few men have ever told their story to anyone. Here’s how you can create opportunities in your community for men to tell their story, and get to know who they really are.

Listening 3.0 Part 2 - Checking-in

Checking in is simple: gathering men together in a circle to listen to each other speak. Checking-in on a regular basis creates more connection, authenticity, and relationship in your community. Here’s how to get one going.

Listening 4.0 - Getting out of your own way

Sometimes how well we listen is affected by avoiding conversations, filtering out messages, or indulging in bad habits. Here’s how to recognise when we’re doing it and change direction.

Listening 5.0 - Helping people solve their own problems

We don’t have to solve another person's problem. Listening well and asking the right questions helps them solve it themselves. Here’s how.
